a bit of a hiatus

Ok, so it's been a bit of struggle keeping this thing up as of late (late = 1.5 months). I went to Mexico, ended up staying longer than planned because my mother got sick and was in the hospital down there for two days (all is well now, the trip was still fantastic and I would go back in a heartbeat - also my muumuu turned out pretty well). I will describe the trip in all its glory at a later time.

muu muu success in Puerto Vallarta. That is the balcony of our room - I miss that view!

When I came home, we immediately started painting our NEW AND (MUCH) BIGGER APARTMENT (due to the size and the terrible paint color on all the floors, we spent almost 50 hours painting that sucker), then took three trips with a uhaul to get everything from our old place into the new one. 3 uhaul trips from a 530 square foot apartment? our apartment must have had the magic of Mary Poppin's carpet bag to allow everything we had. Then we had to repaint our old apartment because we went color happy in there (the new place is a bit toned down, I think we've found our happy medium). Work and life have been insanely busy, and now I'm done with all my excuses. The apartment is still in shambles, but I picked up some items I'm entirely too excited about and want to share them.

This is an old sewing table I got at a consignment shop. Micah gave me instructions to get something for the entry way (he wanted a place to 'toss his keys and mail'), and we think this is perfect!

I couldn't really pass up these little gems. They have that quirky vintage vibe that Anthropologie can't seem to duplicate for less than 5 times the cost of the original (I still love Anthro though).

And here we have some Mexican beauties. The small wool mats I got in Mexico and while I was at a consignment shop in central Illinois, I stumbled upon these amazing pillows. Fate?? It must be.
